Live is available now.
Five Peace Band Live, was recorded during Corea & McLaughlin’s
European tour last fall. The double-disc CD was originally made
available early at performance venues on tour during March as well as
via the band’s website, and is now fully available.

WYNTON MARSALIS SET TO RELEASE NEW CD
On March 24, Pulitzer Prize-winning composer, trumpeter and bandleader Wynton Marsalis will release his fifth Blue Note recording, He and She – an ambitious new album of 22 tracks that combines spoken word and Wynton’s signature Jazz style.
The album is tempered with flashes of humor and plenty of swing centered around the compelling and most elemental of subjects, the relationship between a man and a woman.
It’s That Girl Again, Basia Returns With New Album
Poland-native Basia is re-emerging with what is being considered her strongest work to date, her new album, It’s That Girl Again, which is scheduled for release on March 24th.
The new album from sax legend and Grammy Lifetime Achievement award winner Benny Golson hits stores this week via Concord Jazz (CD & digital).
New Time, New ‘Tet is Golson’s first new studio recording in five years and elaborates the traditional jazztet concept; combining Golson’s new compositions with standard jazz repertoire. The album features classics like Thelonious Monk’s “Epistrophy,” Sonny Rollins’ “Airegin,” and Grammy-winning vocalist Al Jarreau reprises Golson’s classic “Whisper Not.”
Release Of Ray Charles Classic In Alignment With Inauguration.....In celebration of
Inauguration Day, Concord Music Group has digitally released Ray
Charles’ signature rendition of “America The Beautiful.” The song,
offered digitally for the first time, was made available via all
digital music retailers today, January 20th.
Blue Note Records released Mosaic: A Celebration of Blue Note Records this week to commemorate the label’s 70th anniversary. The eight-song collection features classic Blue Note repertoire re-envisioned by The Blue Note 7, an all-start tribute band comprised of current jazz luminaries.
The all-star septet includes pianist, musical director and current Blue Note recording artist Bill Charlap with trumpeter Nicholas Payton, tenor saxophonist Ravi Coltrane, alto saxophonist/flutist Steve Wilson, guitarist Peter Bernstein, bassist Peter Washington and drummer Lewis Nash.
Recorded at London’s historic Abbey Road Studios, the album features seven tracks with full orchestration beautifully arranged and conducted by Rob Mathes (Carly Simon, Elton John, Tony Bennett). Bossa Nova Stories features classic bossa nova tracks “The Girl From Ipanema” and “Chega de Saudade,” American standards, and also Stevie Wonder’s “Superwoman.”
New George Benson Track.......Versatile musician,
guitarist, vocalist, composer, producer and arranger Steve Lukather
alongside David Paich and Marcus Miller, co-produced a new tune for
George Benson.
Lukather posted a blurb to his website talking about the event, saying, “It was awesome!”
They
were joined in the studio by JR Robinson, Phillinganes on keys, and a
new guitar player named Jubu. “I was in the booth producing,” writes
Lukather, “it was UNREAL! It was a star-studded event with all kinds of
people showing up groovin’ on the old school vibe. It was like Old
Quincy Jones sessions.”
The Gospel According To Al Green On DVD ........The 25th Anniversary Edition DVD of The Gospel According to Al Green will be released on January 27th. Offering an up-close-and-personal look at a charismatic soul legend with an unshakeable faith and an incandescent smile, this acclaimed 1984 documentary also features several special features including a 90-minute audio interview with Green.
